Detailed troubleshooting

Please note: This is an attempt to create a generic troubleshooter when EasyListening does not correctly identify your phone. Some steps might not be applicable to your specific phone model. Contact support if these steps don't make any sense to you.

Determining the cause

First, we need to know if EasyListening is the problem or if there are problems with the connection between the computer and the phone.

Connect the phone and start EasyListening.

  • If it says "No device found" in the window, the problem is probably not with EasyListening, but with the connection to the computer.
  • If it says "Unsupported device" there is something wrong with how EasyListening identifies your phone.

No device found

  • Some phones requires a Memory Stick to work with EasyListening. You can check your model here.
  • When you connect the phone you should get a popup menu in the phone. Select "Mass storage" or "File Transfer" depending on your phone. Do not select "Media Transfer" (if available).
  • If you don't get a popup, check the following setting in the phone: Settings->Connectivity->USB->USB Default mode. The setting should be set to "Show menu". (This setting is not available in all phones).
  • If you still don't get a popup when you connect the phone there might be a problem with the cable.
  • Once you have selected "Mass storage" or "File transfer" the phone should restart and you should see a new disk on the desktop of your computer, often named "Untitled", "Phone" or "Phone card"
  • If you can see the disk on your desktop but EasyListening still says "No device found" try to disconnect everything and restart your computer and phone.

Unsupported device

  • In EasyListening, go to the "Help" menu and select "Support data..."
  • Copy the information in the window and send it in an email to support@divinerobot.com together with the name of the phone model and we'll get back to you.
